History Day provides students with an incredibly rich opportunity to develop research and presentation skills while promoting local, national and world history. It also enables social studies teachers to encourage critical thinking and problem solving through competitive means. The theme for this year’s competition is “Frontiers in History: People, Places and Ideas” and is back to a live contest, barring any special situations. A theme narrative can be found at:

The competition will include the following categories:
* Paper - Individual Entry
* Exhibit – Group or Individual Entry
* Documentary – Group or Individual Entry
* Performance – Group or Individual Entry
* Website – Group or Individual Entry
- Each category will be judged at both the Senior (Grades 9-12) and Junior (Grades 6-8) Levels.
- Each school will be allowed to enter a MAXIMUM OF THREE ENTRIES PER CATEGORY, and Districts will be billed the $25 per student fee.

- Historical Quality (80%)
- Clarity of Presentation (20%)
